Our Story

Ever since she was a little girl, my wife Anna dreamed of owning a Golden Retriever. It all started with watching Homeward Bound—the sweet demeanor of Shadow captured her heart. Year after year, she begged her parents for one, filling her room with stuffed Golden Retriever toys and stopping to pet and swoon over every one she encountered in public. When Anna and I started dating, she shared that lifelong wish with me, and it became part of our shared story.

Because of her love for sweets, I jokingly told her she should name her Golden "Cupcake." The name stuck. When Anna graduated, her dream finally came true: we welcomed our perfect angel, Cupcake—AKC name "Just Add Sprinkles"—into our lives. CC, as we affectionately called her, brought 11 years and 11 wonderful months of joy, wagging tails, and unconditional love. She was everything Anna could have dreamt of and so much more.

Then came the devastating diagnosis: oral melanoma. We were heartbroken, but determined to fight. We were blessed with seven more amazing months, during which CC underwent three surgeries, vaccines, and both standard and novel chemotherapy. The bills for treatments, out-of-town trips, hotel stays, and time off work added up, but we were willing to do whatever it took. Through it all, we understood the immense financial burden veterinary care can place on families. It shouldn't limit the special time we are given with our pets.

In CC's final days, we spent a lot of time comforting her as she was being treated in vet clinics, our hearts and ears open, seeking a miracle. No miracle came, but what we overheard were countless tales of pet owners struggling with expensive treatments, forced to make impossible choices. It was in those moments that the idea for Just Add Sprinkles Fund was born—named after our beloved CC, whose kind soul inspired us to help others.

This nonprofit is dedicated to providing financial assistance for veterinary bills, ensuring that other perfect angels get the treatment they need and can come home to their loving families. No pet should suffer due to cost, and no owner should face that pain alone. With transparent governance, a dedicated board including veterinary experts, and community support, we're sprinkling hope one pet at a time.

Our Goal
